FALL HOURS ANNOUNCED AT CASCADE MEADOW WETLANDS & ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE CENTER

Beginning August 18th Cascade Meadow Wetlands & Environmental Science Center will change its open hours to Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You are invited to come and explore!

Cascade Meadow sits on a 100-acre site of which 90 acres of natural areas are being restored or created over the next 2-3 years. When complete, a system of approximately 2.5 miles of trails will wind their way through nine different types of wetlands and three upland communities. In addition, the Science Center at Cascade Meadow was designed, built, and is maintained with environmental sustainability in mind, featuring energy-efficient walls, passive solar design, smart windows, and energy efficient lighting. The area immediately surrounding the building showcases best practices in storm water management including pervious pavements, a green roof and native plants. Renewable energy systems on site include electric generation with wind and solar, as well as solar thermal hot water and a geothermal heat pump for heating and cooling.

Outside, visitors can walk the Alternative Energy Trail and Storm Water Trail. Inside the building, visitors will find 11 interactive exhibits that engage visitors on the topics of energy efficiency, conservation of water and energy, wetland ecology, sustainable building practices, community water services and connections, and many others. As a place of exploration and participation, Cascade Meadow invites you to visit, explore the site, join in a class or program, and sign up to volunteer.

Cascade Meadow is located at 2900 19th Street NW in Rochester. For more information visit: www.cascademeadow.org.
